Truck Driver Steals $19,000 Worth of New Balances

According to ABC2, 29-year-old truck driver Courtney Lynn Slater, was charged with one count of theft between $10,000-$100,000. He pleaded guilty to the charges on Tuesday. The crime dates back to July 2016, when an employee of New Penn Motor Express noticed that a pallet of New Balance sneakers was missing from a trailer. The worker reported the missing pallet and noted that Slater was seen near it before driving off in a truck. Slater was then spotted near a mall parking lot unloading the shipment before returning the truck. While crime surrounding sneakers is usually a serious topic, it's hard not to laugh at Slater's motive behind the theft. In a police interview, he admitted to going through with the crime for a co-worker who offered to pay him $250. Slater is scheduled to be sentenced on May 15, 2017 and he is currently out of jail on bond.
