Nike Gets Out of Snowboarding, Will Focus More on Skateboarding*~

Nike will soon be dropping their snowboarding category, according to a report from the Oregonian. The move doesn't come as much of a surprise to industry experts, who note a downward trend in snowboarding. In fact, Nike's action sports division only generates about $738 million annually, while they had $4.6 billion in running sales and $3.1 billion in basketball sales in its last fiscal year. Dropping snowboarding allows Nike to shift more resources to skateboarding, generally perceived as a strong category for the company. The 2014 SLS Nike SB Super Crown World Championship, an elite skateboarding competition, will make its debut on FOX this Sunday.

Native Shoes Expands the Apollo Collection with Hand-Dyed Shoes*~

Vancouver’s Native Shoes recently previewed some new goods, continuing to find its center with modern footwear. The brand re-tooled its Apollo collection with some premium hand-dyed fabrics and a new Apollo Chukka silhouette to compliment the well-recieved Apollo Moc. Both the Chukka and Moc iterations feature a perforated microfiber upper, which calls back attention to Native’s #keepitlite slogan, which has been used by the brand since its early days. The collection incorporates fabrics are hand-dyed, taking cues from the ancient Japanese Shibori tie-dying method.

Active Ride Shop x Vans Sk8-Hi Pro 25th Anniversary*~

To observe the occasion, the California-based skateboarding institution Active Ride Shop tapped none other than Vans to create a special version of the classic Sk8-Hi silhouette. The shoe makes use of premium pig suede and ballistic nylon in the upper, meant to express the richness and strength of the Active Brand, while elsewhere using heather grey fleece at the collar and heel to represent the retailer’s inaugural product offering: sweatshirts. Limited to just 400 pairs worldwide, pick up this special collaboration beginning November 1st in-store and online.

The Nike Zoom Talaria returns in 2014, featuring a twist on the vibrant color scheme that is indicative of its era, while maintaining the original silhouette from the ’90s. The upper features a black synthetic suede material and tonal mesh on the vamp. Bright fusion of colors are seen amidst the gradient midsole, as well as the large orange heel panel. Additional details include a teal embroidered Swoosh and a tonal 3M support cage. Even though the new model consist of a dark anthracite base with the slightest hits of fluorescent colors.

Pendleton x NIKEiD Collection Introduces 8 New Silhouettes*~

Pendleton Woolen Mills has teamed up with Nike to customize 8 silhouettes utilizing NIKEiD technology. Delving into Nike’s replete archive for this project, Pendleton takes to the Roshe, SB Janoski, Air Force 1 and Air Max 1 in an option of high, mid and low cuts in its design efforts. The uppers are modernized with Pendleton’s signature woolen plaid and tartan prints, otherwise seen across the brand’s shirts and blankets. Leather Swoosh and metal eyelets offer refined touches, while an array of rawhide and printed laces further accentuate the silhouettes with riffs of charisma. Priced between $130 – $145 USD, the Pendleton x NIKEiD collection will be available on November 3rd from Nike.

Diemme x Vans Vault Holiday 2014 Collection*~

Luxury Italian footwear maker Diemme joins up with Vans Vault for their fourth collaborative effort this holiday season. One of the most pretigious collaborators with Vans in recent years, Diemme presents handcrafted editions of the Era and Sk8-Hi as the Montebelluna Era LX and Montebelluna Hi LX. With two colorways for each model, the silhouettes are crafted in premium leather from the Horween leather company of Chicago, Illinois. Available at select Vans Vault retailers this November, the Era Montebelluna LX will retail for $300 USD and be available in Bone and Red/Navy colorways, while the $350 USD Montebelluna Hi LX is presented in Brown/Natural and Navy/Off-White colorways.

Saint Laurent Classic Court White/Black-Red*~

Maintaining its penchant for luxury releases, Saint Laurent presents its Classic Court silhouette in a White/Black-Red style code. Crafted with supple white, red, and black leather making up its upper, a pinch of tan suede adorns the top. Set atop an amber rubber sole, the Italian-crafted Saint Laurent Classic Court White/Black-Red is available now over at Barneys for $795 USD.

Air Jordan 1 Mid “Melo”*~

Melo cemented himself as the longest tenured athlete on Jordan Brand’s basketball roster last year, reaching double digits with his Jordan Melo M10 signature. It looks like Jordan Brand isn’t done commemorating the man either, as this Air Jordan 1 Mid “Melo” proves. Pharrell Williams and German sportswear leviathan adidas Originals present the visual campaign for their ongoing collaboration. Shot by photographer Ryan McGinley, art directed by Lloyd & Co. and styled by fashion editor Jay Massacret, the campaign much like the collection highlights the importance of equality and features millennials of all races, ethnicities and genders coming together to indicate a sense of unity. Debuting with imagery focusing on the collection’s second tennis-inspired range, the campaign sees two groups of people who together form an equal sign signifying acceptance, love and strength. During these early days of Nike Roshe Run, a group of Roshe loyalists established TeamROSHE on the NikeTalk forums to help other sneakerheads learn more about the new model. They had developed a cult following that led to special TeamROSHE merchandise and even a sneaker blog dedicated entirely to this one sneaker. The creator of the Roshe Run, Dylan Raasch, and Nike themselves recognized the group's influence and invited several members to its World Headquarters in Oregon.
