The month of October saw Banksy taking to the streets of New York city to continue his reign as one of the most elusive and mysterious graffiti artists in the world. His 30 pieces have been painted over and others tagged over by other graffiti artists, several are beginning to make their way into the hands of private owners, including 6 that were salvaged by the building owners with an expected value in the hundreds of thousands. Some will ultimately end up in the hands of galleries, including the broken heart balloon removed from the Red Hook building in Brooklyn expected to draw in between $700,000-$900,000.
Taiwan Brand Stay Real’s been trending on the other side of the world and what better way to make a mark in the sneaker scene by collaborating with Reebok. The collaboration includes the Reebok Pump Fury featuring a Pink gradient effect that lead up to the tongue, exposing a blue sky. The collabo is set to release sometime before 2014.
Pawel Nolbert’s Sneakercube drawings are back with an appropriate all-black series. Five models get a cube makeover including the Air Jordan 4 “Black Cat,” Air Max 90, Givenchy high-top sneaker, Martin Margiela Velcro sneaker and Rick Owens Anthem sneaker. Starting with a photo of each sneaker model, Nolbert reinterprets each shoe as a cube drawing, highlighting key features to distinguish each one from the rest. Sneaker retailer BAIT presents its latest collaboration with ASICS in form of the Gel-Lyte III “Basics Model-001 Vanquish”. The first release of the three-part collabo, the latest Gel Lyte III features a combination of black and camouflage with wire mesh detailing throughout the upper, a partially speckled white midsole and red outsole underneath.
A solid 15 years since its original release, Nike dives into its sizable archive to return with one of its more commercially successful runners in the Air Max Plus, also known as the TN or Tuned 1. Chalked full of technical enhancements, this model quickly became a favorite among sneakerheads and athletes alike during the late 90s and early 2000s. For fans of this model both old and new, the OG Nike Air Max Plus in “Hyper Blue” will be hitting select Foot Locker's and Champs Sports around the world within the next few days.
New York City’s Daily News has reported that West’s deal with the three stripes is worth about $10 Million USD, which also includes royalties from his forthcoming project. This news seems only the beginning for West’s agenda as reported on Hot 97′s Angie Martinez Show, who recently cited feeding his family as his chief priority. Ewing Athletics will release a new 33 Hi, That will be the next Ewing shoe to get the boot-like Mustard Suede treatment. Ewing Athletics announced via twitter that fans can expect the release for mid-December.
Converse Japan teams up with XLarge to create the XL Weapon® TG-Camo Hi. The high-tops feature a composite upper with suede overlays and canvas with a tiger camo pattern. Finishing off the pair are grey green laces and contrast stitching, and an embossed white outsole. Priced at ¥10,395 (approximately $101 USD), the shoes can now be ordered through Converse’s Japanese website.
The second collection between Belgian fashion designer Raf Simons and adidas for Spring/Summer 2014 is now available for pre-order. The nine different sneakers manage to emulate a similar style to the last collection, while simultaneously all being strikingly different. Making use of bold colors and contrasting color combinations, the high fashion trainers are made from a combination of mesh, leather panels and silicone details.
