Brooklyn Nets Unveil New Logo, Merchandise*~

Created by minority owner, hip hop icon and Brooklyn native Jay-Z, the new primary logo retains the shield from its previous iteration, and adds the Brooklyn 'B' to the basketball that has been part of every logo since the franchise's 1967 inception as the Americans. The logo is also inspired by the Brooklyn Dodgers, who used a similar lettermark on their logo and caps. Brooklyn is also spelled out below. According to, Nets CEO Brett Yormark called this "the new badge for Brooklyn," and Jay-Z believes the design's boldness demonstrates confidence in the new direction.

Sneaker customizer Mache has had a hell of a run in 2012, particularly with shoes he's worked on inspired by the "NERF" Nike Zoom KD IV. The popular style has already been applied to the Kobe VII and LeBron 9, which was also produced in an "Un-NERF" version. Now, Mache has chosen another LeBron silhouette for a NERF makeover.

The Air Jordan 4 is enjoying its 23rd Anniversary in 2012, with retro releases scheduled throughout the remainder of the year. In addition to several original looks, there will also be new colorways introduced to the lineup, including the "Cavs" retro set for next month. Jordan Brand Unveils Signature Footwear For The Playoffs*~

Looking to lead their teams to the top of the basketball world, the Jordan Brand's signature athletes will rock special never before seen colorways of their respective kicks as the NBA Playoffs are scheduled to kick off this weekend. Chris Paul will lace up eye-catching Clippers-inspired colorways of the CP3.V, while Carmelo Anthony will look to prove the Knicks are contenders in the Melo M8. Dwyane Wade will hit the court for the Heat in the recently unveiled Fly Wade II EV, which features a lighter build and improved performance aspects to help DWade lead his Heat deep into the playoffs this season.

Nike has taken steps to help eliminate the chaos that has somewhat plagued their recent major releases. The first step they took was setting up a Twitter RSVP System for launches at their physical NikeTown locations. The system allows people to reserve a pair of newly released sneakers at their preferred NikeTown via online registration. Now, for those who like to do their shopping online, Nike has announced a change to their release policy as well.
